In 2016, SNUG developed a collection of milestone stickers which can be used alongside our "My Little Victories Chart". These were trialled in the neonatal units at Derriford Hospital (Plymouth) and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. The feedback was overwhelming and this initiative is now available for neonatal units everywhere.
The stickers and milestone charts were both developed in conjunction with the SNUG parent group in Devon, so they would designed by parents for parents.
These are a unique and special way to mark your baby's progress whilst in hospital. The sticker charts can also be a great conversational tool and a brilliant way to keep older siblings involved. It may even help them to talk to family and friend's about their little brother or sister's progress through the neonatal unit. Later on, the sticker charts will also make fantastic keepsakes for your baby's memory box or for display in their nursery.
“I think this is such a good idea. I didn't manage to record any milestones as I was in such a daze. Something this simple and fun to display would have motivated me to quickly record the small moments that meant such a lot.”
"Our family loves the sticker charts. We look at the chart with our two year old each night. We use it to talk about his sister and how she's doing and he loves putting the stickers on. Such a brilliant resource."
Here are some of our existing charts in use:
We also can supply information sheets, detailing more information about the charts and feedback sheets for parents to let us know how they found them and any improvements they would like to share.
Stickers available to collect:
There are a total of 23 current designs picking out key common milestones experienced within a typical neonatal journey which have been chosen and developed our parent group. Each neonatal journey is unique and special and so your baby may not collect all the stickers or may collect more than one of a particular milestone - there is no "right" way of completing your chart or set path for a neonatal stay. These charts are designed to celebrate YOUR baby's little victories and so may not be the same as another family's.
There is a space next to each sticker to record the date a milestone was reached.
